What we deal with in Hull.
The Humber is one of the UK's major industrial estuaries, and Hull's acoustic work is dominated by it: port and dock operations, bulk handling, processing and the offshore wind manufacturing and servicing that has grown up around the estuary. By measuring long enough to capture genuinely representative activity rather than a convenient window, and by applying the corrections the standard provides for impulsive and intermittent sound. A short survey during a quiet shift produces a number that will not hold up.
