Acoustic consultants in Warrington.
Where the M6 meets the M62, and where a very large amount of the country's distribution capacity sits next to housing.
The local picture
What we deal with in Warrington.
Warrington's position at the junction of two motorways made it one of the North West's logistics centres, and that shapes the acoustic work. Distribution and fulfilment operations run through the night, and the noise that matters is rarely the building services: it is yard activity, reversing alarms, trailer coupling and dock impacts. Those attract character corrections under BS 4142 for tonality and impulsivity, and an assessment that leaves them out will not survive an environmental health review.
The town has also added a great deal of new housing close to that employment land, which produces the classic agent-of-change situation in both directions. Operators need assessments that show existing activity remains acceptable; developers need assessments that show new homes will not be affected by it.
Warrington Borough Council is a unitary authority determining applications across the town and surrounding villages, with the Manchester Ship Canal and the Mersey adding their own industrial context to the south.

Warrington: common questions.
How is logistics noise assessed?
Under BS 4142, and the yard is usually the controlling source rather than the fixed plant. Reversing alarms are tonal and intermittent, dock and trailer impacts are impulsive, and both attract corrections that can move a comfortable result into adverse territory.
We are developing housing next to a working depot. Is that a problem?
Not necessarily, but it needs assessing properly and early, because the answer shapes the layout. Getting it wrong after the layout is fixed usually means expensive glazing, or a scheme that cannot demonstrate acceptable internal conditions at all.
